11 Nov UP START: Catch Up VOL.1(November, 08, 2014)
We bring you the down and dirty, the whoop ass coverage from our friends over at UP START in Japan. They just hosted their first night meeting called the “Catch UP” that was held in the Miyoshi SA down line. Right away we can notice how raw and wild the cars are in Japan. No plastic prefabbed shit here, just pure raw and dirty cars and people chilling and doing their thing embracing car culture. USDM, JDM who gives a shit. Its all about cars.
As Yuuki Hosokawa one of the organizers of the event put it, “our crew, UP START, held it’s first night meet called Catch up!! at Miyosi PA. Because this was our first time planning a meet, we were a bit worried at first but decided to go ahead and asked our members to help spread the word. There were requests for photos from magazine publishers and foreign media outlets so a lot of planning went into this meet. From UP START, Tomoki and Konishi were the main photographers for this event.”
Furthermore according to Yuuki, setting up for this event was approximately 2 hours prior to the official start time so that they could reserve parking spots for certain invited guests. Ultimately Miyosi PA is fairly large so they figured parking wouldn’t be an issue but as the night went on, the number of cars at the meet quickly reached over 350. Totally unexpected by the organizers. Like with many night meetings and meets these days, as expected, around midnight the cops started to show up and the parking area filled up with enough modified cars to cause a traffic jam. That’s when the crew decided to move the meet over to a nearby parking area, Takasaka, and by using Facebook others were notified of the venue change. The number of cars present at Takasaka was a bit lower as many people disbursed, however still a good 150+ owners stayed until the early morning hours.
In closing Yuuki states, “we would like to thank our friends that live a far for the help and support we received. We would also like to thank Matthew, from Squeaky Clean/Canibeat, for help spreading the word. We are very grateful of all the support we received for this event, thank you!” All I can say Yuuki is that you guys just keep kicking ass over in Japan and keep automotive life alive. Japan will always have a different flavor to offer to the world because its simply another part of the world with different perspective. That is what makes it oh so unique. It is with great pleasure that we had the honor to promote your event and begin working with you on future endeavors. We are certainly looking towards many more events and kick ass pictures that we can share with our viewers in Canada and other parts of the world. Congratulations on an epic first meeting! Whoop ass!
